Getting Hitched Within Community

Just before Christmas, a small gathering of stellar people huddled in a barn somewhere in Ohio. We were excited to share in the joy of two of "our" people joining together for life. Camp ministry is relational if it's anything. The people we serve and serve with become an integral part of our life and community. They are family. When some of us gathered for a Christmas wedding in a barn, it felt like a family reunion!

When these people hurt, we hurt. When these people celebrate, we celebrate. When these people struggle, we pray and encourage and help carry the burden. "Our" people have a place with us. That's what happens when lives come together under the umbrella of Jesus. The instant bond, the shared life, the uncommon grace for the common people.

From such a family place, we are strengthened to shine in the darkness; to have our faith ignited in personal ways so we can bring His love to the world with a personal touch. The Light of the World makes us a light on a hill. And we shine brighter together.

I've been wrestling with what community looks like within the family of God. Most of it is a broken system, but camp ministry over the last ten years has allowed me to see God's beautiful intention for community! God divinely crosses our paths with people so we can learn from each other, receive grace from each other, enjoy each other, discover more of God together and cheer each other on.

We miss out on an element of God when we are not part of community! There can be such a joy in the intimate togetherness -- a joy that is contagious and life changing! I'm thankful God takes the time to keep showing an independent girl like me how to find home among His people! I'm thankful for the family He's built and placed me in! I'm inspired to keep finding Him there!

Congrats Kaleigh and Brent! Loved sharing in your special day! Thank you for being our fam!
